Summary

Spire is seeking a Compliance Engineer I to work in our St. Louis, MO office. This position will provide guidance to company personnel concerning pipeline safety compliance standards, support implementation of the company’s Distribution Integrity Management Program, assists with DOT annual reports and other records for compliance and auditing.   This position also supports various main and service line replacement programs and the development of maintenance programs to comply with State and federal pipeline safety programs.  

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of state and federal pipeline safety industry regulations and company standards.  Assist in implementation of the Distribution Integrity Management Program.
  • Support the company’s PSC pipeline safety inspections.
  • Support the company initiatives through interacting with the PSC Pipeline Safety officials, other gas utility representatives, and material/equipment vendors as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation and submittal of various regulatory reports and documentation as needed.
  • Assist in planning of leakage and other compliance-related surveys as required.
  • Assist in the analysis and implementation of various replacement programs.
  • Assist Field Operations personnel as needed related to pipeline safety compliance.
  • Support the implementation of special projects related to compliance activities as assigned.
  • Ability to lead by example in support of the Company’s essential characteristics and values

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Familiarity with state and federal pipeline safety regulations a plus
  • Occasionally perform project management tasks.
     

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Normally works inside office surroundings but will occasionally work outdoors in the field under varying weather conditions with moderate physical exertion
  • Typically Monday through Friday
  • Occasional travel or overtime as required
